OCEANA #WHYOCEANSMATTER

Oceans cover 71 percent of the globe and they are as important as they are vast. Our oceans are home to most of the life on our planet and play a central role in the world’s natural systems, like regulating our climate and absorbing carbon dioxide. They provide livelihoods to countless fishermen and others around the world. They also feed hundreds of millions of people and have the capacity to provide a healthy seafood meal to a billion people, every day. Yet, despite their size, the oceans are not immune to human influences like overfishing, habitat destruction and pollution.
The good news is that we can restore our oceans, which is why we are launching a piece of jewelry as a symbol for the protection of oceans. The element water has always maintained a special meaning for our brand. The designer, herself, along with the company’s philosophy and special Boutique locations have been shaped by this unique connection to nature. Even our brand symbol, the drop, reminds us constantly of the fascination with the world’s most important element – water.
So, as of July 2019, TAMARA COMOLLI is proud to partner with the non-profit ocean conservation group, Oceana, which is the largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to protecting and restoring the world’s oceans on a global scale. Oceana seeks to make our oceans more biodiverse and abundant by winning science-based policy victories in the countries that govern much of the world's marine life. Since 2001, Oceana has achieved over 200 concrete policy victories for marine life and habitats. From stopping bottom trawling in sensitive habitat areas to protecting sea turtles from commercial fishing gear, their victories represent a new hope for the world's oceans. With this partnership, TAMARA COMOLLI wants to set an example for a sustainable awareness for one of our most important elements in life.

BECAUSE WE CARE...

We are aware about the fact that natural raw materials are used in the production of our brochures. Thus, we would like to restore some of these raw materials to our environment and always strive for a climate-neutral production.

Reforestation project in Schliersee, GERMANY

To balance the production of our booklets, we joined a reforestation project in Schliersee, near our Headquarters in Gmund, Lake Tegernsee. The Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (AELF) Holzkirchen successfully planted 700 silver firs, 700 larches and 300 maples.

Use of 'BIO' colors

Chemical-free plates are used for printing. These were not developed in a chemical bath, but directly in the printing machine as process-free exposure of the plates.

Prefabricated packaging and stitching in social institution

We are very proud that we are able to support another social project. In cooperation with the Munich Institution for the Handicapped, we are able to prepare our brochures for shipping to our customers. In addition, the stitching is taken over by the professionals of the facility as a complex bookbinding task.
